Blogs Part 5: Planning Your Blogging Profit Plan

Wednesday, September 5th, 2007

Planning your blogging profit plan is crucial part of the construction of any monetized blog.

But what does it usually involve?

Generally, planning your blogging profit plan consists of two things: working on a traffic generation plan and improving conversion rates.

When planning your blogging profit plan, you may want to work on the conversion side first.

If you begin sending traffic to your blog before it is monetized properly, your conversion rates could be too low to earn a significant return on your investment; this is especially true if you are paying for traffic from pay-per-click sources, such as Adwords.

One important thing you must consider when planning your blogging profit plan is how you can improve the quality of your copywriting.

If you do not feel that you have the expertise or writing skills to convince someone to buy your product, you may want to hire someone to write your salespage for you.

With the recent boom in freelancing markets, you should be able to find a talented copywriter on elance.com or guru.com for a relatively low price per word or page.

If your copy is bad, your conversion rate will also be bad, which means you are wasting traffic.

Additionally, you should consider including pre-selling tactics while planning your blog profit plan. You may want to include such pre-selling methods as giveaways, cash prizes, or some other form of interaction for visitors.  The other important part to consider while planning your blog profit plan is your traffic generation methods.

No matter what the topic of your blog, you generally have five basic traffic generation methods:

pay-per-click programs,

which allow you to pay for targeted traffic;

natural search engine traffic,

which you can build by optimizing onpage and offpage factors;

link-based traffic,

which you can build by purchasing links from link brokers;

list marketing traffic,

which you can build by purchasing solo ads from list-owners;

and repeat traffic,

which you can build by giving visitors a reason to return and by persuading them to bookmark your site.

All things being equal, you must concentrate on traffic generation and conversion rates while planning your blogging profit plan.

Blogs Part 4: How to Monetize Your Blogs

Tuesday, September 4th, 2007

Other than direct sales and adsense, are there any other methods you can make money from using your blog?

Yes, there are several, but three are usually used more often than others:

1) lead generation;

2) affiliate marketing; and

3) newsletter subscriptions.

Of all the other methods you can make money from with your blog, lead generation may be the most promising.

This is an especially true if the market your blog is in is related to anything financial.

Mortage and refinance leads are especially good, as they bring in tiered commissions.

Your first commission will come when you generate the initial lead – which will simple entail getting someone to fill out a completely free form; this lead will earn you anywhere from $3 to $12.

If this lead then goes on to refinance her home with the company in question, you could earn a windfall of several hundreds or several thousands of dollars.

The other methods you can make money from with your blog include affiliate marketing and newsletter subscriptions. Affiliate marketing generally consists of either directly signing up as an affiliate through someone’s website – or signing up as an affiliate through a third party.

You will then use your blog to market this person’s products for a share of the total price.

If you sell information products from Click Bank or Commission Junction, you can earn as much as 75% per sale; however, if you sell physical products, such as chairs and tables from Link Share retailers, such as Wal Mart, you will earn a 7-15% commission at best.

If these other methods you can make money from don’t sound appealing, you can always consider newsletter subscriptions.

You can create an opt-in page or a “squeeze page” on your blog and offer a trial subscription to your newsletter.

If you provide quality content and promote your blog, you could end up with hundreds of subscribers over time.

Other methods you can make money from on your blog include selling advertising space directly and selling site memberships that allow visitors to access certain server-side tools.

Blogs Part 3: The Popularity of Blogs

Monday, September 3rd, 2007

In recent studies by the American Life Project and The Guardian (UK), researchers asked whether or not the popularity of blogs today was growing in the two countries; and if so, why?

The results on the popularity of blogs today were not exactly what most members of the blogosphere might expect.

Researchers working on the American Life Project found that the popularity of blogs today in terms of readerships in the

United States was absolutely exploding; however, they also found that the amount of blogs available was increasing slowly in comparison.

In the last six months of 2004, for instance, blog readers grew from a mere 17% of the population to a robust 37%–a significant increase.

However, blog writers only increased from 5% and 7%; and largely maintained their homogeneous composition, which is predominantly male, young, and wealthy.

The ALP attributed this explosion in readerships to the Presidential race, where both candidates employed blogging in some form to attract campaign donors.

The Guardian, which performed their study more recently, also found similar results in the

United Kingdom on the popularity of blogs today.

While they also found that readerships had increased dramatically, they did not find the same issue of slow blog growth; however, they did find out that a fairly astonishing 30% of frequent Internet users had never even heard of a blog.

So in which direction is the popularity of blogs today moving?

To greater profusion or to obscurity?  Given that blogs are the best intermediary between websites and forums, it is hard to imagine that they will decrease in the popularity of blogs today; conversely, however, it isn’t hard to imagine that they will improve significantly in continuation with how they have changed since their inception in the mid-1990s.

In the short term, it is fairly safe to imagine that larger blogs will experiment with video technology while older blogs stick with easy, faster-loading models.

It is also fairly safe to image that blog indexing methods will continue to improve and may even break away from the traditional algorithm method.

Blogs Part 2: Discovering Different Types of Blogs You Can Build

Sunday, September 2nd, 2007

The types of blogs you can build are limited only by your imagination and by your willingness to conduct research.

For instance, while some bloggers focus on general topics, such as cars, other bloggers narrow the scope of their blogs even further to sub-topics, such as luxury cars or antique cars.

From an optimization standpoint, a blog with a narrower scope would likely outperform a blog with a broader scope in terms of conversions or clicks-per-visitor.

So, if your goal is to make money, the types of blogs you can build are somewhat limited.

In terms of actual topics for the types of blogs you can build, there are about 9 major areas that are popular for current blogs: business, culture, community, politics, religion, science, travel, online diaries, and gossip.

Most blog directories use similar topical categories to order blogs.

In addition to the topic for the types of blogs you can build, you will also want to consider the program used to generate it.

This is another way that directories categorize blogs.

For instance, blogs can fall under the category of the tool or software that was used to create them.

Some blogs are created using Google’s Blogger.

These blogs are often lumped together in directories as the same “type” of blog.

They actually have an auto-surfing system that allows you to jump randomly from one Blogger blog to the another.

Other types of blogs you can build include social networking blogs, which allow members of the same network to interact with each other using various blog functions.

Two examples are Livejournal–which was one of the original social networking blog systems–and Myspace, which is currently the largest, boasting a base of around 80,000,000 users.

In recent months, marketers and business persons have begun using Myspace to introduce their product to potential customers.  Another type of blog you can build is a video blog or “vlog.” These usually contain videos and allow other posts to attach media in comments.

The last types of blogs you can build are geographical blogs.

With such a robust blogging atmosphere–with users weighing in from all over the globe–directories, such as Blog Wise will allow users to search for blogs by geographic location.

If you believe you have some information you can contribute about your specific region, you may want to start a regional geographic blog.

Blogs Part 1: How To Define Blogging

Saturday, September 1st, 2007

With the recent rise in advanced social networking sites and the subsequent attention they have received from media outlets, people commonly perceive web logs–which are the staple of social networking–as a new invention; however, this isn’t entirely true.

Adding information to web-logs or “blogs”–blogging defined today–has been around for over ten years–and has gradually gained strength on the Internet as means of communication.

While people blogging in the early 1990s generally limited their blogs to personal information, such as chronicles and diaries, bloggers defined today includes blogging on a wide variety of different topics–from politics to cheese-tasting; however, blogging defined today is very much the same: a simple means to better facilitate communication.

Blogging defined is one of the most effective means of Internet-based communication because it is relatively easy and requires little time investment.

Using a blogging interface like Wordpress or Google’s Blogger, a blog owner can add a new entries to his blog while he sits in a meeting at work or watches events unfold on TV.

Rather than fooling around with messy code, he can simply enter his message textually in his blog; and then update it in a matter of seconds.

Another crucial aspect of blogging that makes it such an effective medium for communication is that it allows for rapid-response comments.

A political debate could literally unfold over the course of the afternoon in the form of comments on a blog.

Conversely, blogging defined by the media is often “controversial,” but it doesn’t have to be that way.

Many blogs are used to simply say “hello” to friends who are blog owners.

This is quite common with social networking sites, such as Myspace and Livejournal–both of which use a form of blog to facilitate communication.

Whether blogging defined is a form spurring debate between political opponents or blogging defined is a means of increasing bonds between friends, they have the ability to rapidly increase the speed of communication by acting as a sort of intermediary between a full-featured website and a forum.

Making A Reoccurring Income With No Startup Costs Using Blogging And AdSense

Monday, July 9th, 2007

Making A Reoccurring Income With No Startup Costs Using Blogging And AdSenseGoogle AdSense is biggest craze among beginner Internet marketers at the moment. With AdSense the average Joe can start making a monthly check by simply writing about their interests. It is easy and best of all everything that you will need is completely free.

Some of today’s most successful AdSense marketers are bringing in close to five hundred thousand a month. No that is not a typo. A popular free dating site called Plenty Of Fish pulls in monthly checks like those. The odds are you will never get to this point but you sure can still bring in a nice monthly check.

Setting up an account at Blogger and applying for an AdSense account is not only easy it also has some real good benefits. Since both Blogger and AdSense are owned by Google they work hand in hand. Your Blogger account blog’s will get spidered by Google and many other search engines quicker than most other free blog providers. You are also more likely to get an AdSense account quicker if you are using a blog on Blogger.

Getting your Blogger account will be the first thing you will need to do. To do this simply go to blogger dot com and choose the option to create an account. Once you have done this you will have to fill in some basic information. Don’t forget to write down your user name and password and put it up somewhere safe and easy to find.

Once you have done this you are ready make your first blog on Blogger. But first you need to come up with a good topic. I suggest you write down ten things that you are interested in. These can be your hobbies, past or current jobs, or anything else you are interested in. This will make it easy for you to keep posting to your blog. It is always easier to blog about something everyday that you have passion and interest in.

Now that you have your list of potential topics it is time to choose a winner. To do this we will turn to a great tool called Niche Bot. Simply go to nichebot dot com and type your first topic in the space provided and hit search.

You will now be shown the top ten related search terms. On the far left you will see similar keywords to what you typed in. Right next to that you will see how many searches where done on Google in a one month period for that keyword. Next to that you will see how many pages and sites you have for competition. Then you will see a number called the KEI, this represents your chances of getting a good ranking, the lower the number the better. The next number also tells you about your chances of getting a good ranking, with this one the higher the number the better.

Go through your list and write down any keywords that have a KEI of under five but preferably under one. If you can find keywords that are under one these are ideal. You often have so little competition that if you do this right your blog will shoot right up to the first page and your AdSense revenues will go up as well.

Now take your list of keywords and go back to blogger and choose the create a new blog option. You now want to find an available blog name that has your keywords in it. First try using simply your keywords with no spaces. If this one did not work put a - in between each word. Having the name all together is easier for visitors to remember but a little harder for the search engines to decipher. Using dashes in between the keywords is harder for your visitors to remember but easier on the search engines. In the end it is really your choice. If either of them worked add an appropriate word to the keyword combination.

Do this for just one of your keyword combinations with a low KEI for now. This will be a good start, you don’t want to get overloaded. Once you get the first blog up and doing good than start another blog or two. Keep adding to this list when you think of something new and work through it when your current blog’s are making some money.

Now that you have chosen a name for your blog you have to choose a template. I myself prefer the Rounder’s templates or the plain white one. These templates look more professional and people will take your blog more seriously. Once you have chosen one you can go to the “Templates” tab to see even more. I have no clue whey Google does not show all of the blog templates at first but for some reason they don’t.

Once you are done with the last part it is time to change your blog’s settings. To start simply click on the settings tab to get started.

On the Basic tab make sure that your blog’s url contains your keywords. You will also want to put a good detailed description about your blog and the benefits of reading it daily. Make sure that you use your keywords as much as possible. This will help your blog get a better search engine ranking. Make sure that you also answer yes to the question asking “add your blog to our listings”. This will make your blog show on the Blogger main page for a moment when you post as well as make your blog searchable by Blogger visitors.

Next we will move to the “Publishing” tab. Here you will want to set the “Notify Weblogs” to yes. This will send a notification to the weblogs each time you post telling them you have updated your blog. The weblog site lets people and search engine crawlers know you have new content on your blog. It is very important that this option is set to yes.

Now lets move on to the “Formatting” tab. There is really no right or wrong way to make these settings. Many people that blog for AdSense revenue prefer to keep about three to five posts on the main page.

Next you will want to click on the “Comments” tab. This is where you control all aspects of visitors leaving their feedback on your posts. You should always allow comments on your blog unless your topic is considered controversial. The last thing you need is a bunch of people flaming your posts. Allowing comments however adds content to your blog that search engine spiders can crawl. I suggest letting anybody comment and not to limit it. Also make sure that you don’t have your comments show in a popup window. The search engines will not see your comments if you have this selected.

The next stop in this process is the “Archiving” tab. If you plan to post daily you should choose to archive daily. If you will be posting a few times a week you should archive weekly. Posting daily is the best way to go since it gives the spiders more content to index. This will in turn give you a better search engine ranking and more traffic to your blog, which means more AdSense revenue. While you are here also enable post pages so that each post gets it’s own unique page on your blog.

The last stop we need to make to finish our settings is the “Site Feed” tab. This tab controls your sites RSS feed. Your RSS feed will allow others to see your new content easily and allow other sites to add your content to their site with a link back to your blog. If your posts are short choose to enable full descriptions. If you go with long posts go with short descriptions. Making long posts to your blog is by far the better of the two.

When you make long posts only a portion of each post will show on your RSS feed forcing viewers to go to your blog to see the rest of the post. You want this since it gives them a chance to click on your AdSense ads. This is why you want your headline and the fist fifty words really grab the readers attention so they have to read the rest.

Now that your blog is setup you will want to setup your Blogger profile from the main Blogger dashboard. This only needs to be one once and can be found in the right hand column. Making a profile allows your blog’s visitors to learn a little about you. This helps your visitor gain trust in you and your blog and will turn them into a regular visitor to your blog. Make sure to select to “Share My Profile” and “Show My Real Name”. If possible find a place to host a picture of yourself and point to it via the pictures URL.

You are now ready to make your first blog post. To do this simply select your blog and choose the option to write a new post. Your posts can be done two ways. The first would be to completely write the blog post yourself.

The second is to copy over a small teaser to another sites page or article and put a link to them after it. Now go and tell your thoughts about the site or the article that you are showing your visitors. This is a quick and easy way to add content if you cannot think of anything to write about yourself.

Go ahead and make two or three posts to your blog. Once you have done that it is time to apply for an AdSense account so your blog can make you some money. The best way to do this is to click on the “Templates” tab. From there you can click on the “AdSense” link and apply strait from your blog. You are basically guaranteed to get an account this way. If you do get turned down the first time don’t worry about it. Just go and post for another day or two and try again. You should get approved fairly quickly though.

Once you get approved you can go back to the “AdSense” tab that you applied from. You should now be able to choose what kind of ad you want to display. You want to make the AdSense ads look like part of the blog. To do this choose blend. Your ads should now look like they are part of your blog. The best ad size to use for Blogger blog’s is the 336×280 large rectangle. Save your changes once you have finished with this.

Now you will want to click on “Edit Current”. This will bring up a page with allot of site code. This may look like gibberish to you but don’t let it worry you. We just want to make a few simple changes. Scroll down about half way and you will see your AdSense code block. It should stick out pretty well and will mention AdSense in it.

Now we want to highlight and copy the block of code that we found. Now we are going to make it show your ads at the bottom of your page as well. To do this we will want to find some code that looks like this.

We want to paste the AdSense code we copied in between and the fist

. Now go ahead and click on preview and make sure that your blog looks fine. If for some reason it does not you may want to put

before the AdSense code block and
after the AdSense code block. This will make your ad centered and keep it from going off the side of the template.

Keep in mind that if you decide to change your template the AdSense code you just put in will be lost. I highly recommend that you make it the way you want the first time. You could be doing more productive things with your time, like posting to your blog.

You now should have a working blog on Blogger with AdSense ads to make you some cash. Whatever you do never click on your own ads. This is a real easy way to get your AdSense account closed down and loose whatever you have earned.

The last thing you need to do is get some traffic. You will most likely get some visitors by simply having your blog’s settings done the way described earlier. To help you get some more traffic you can utilize a few basic free advertising tactics.

Fist thing you can try is to submit your blog and it’s RSS feed to the blog directories. To find directories to submit your blog to simply type in “RSS submission site” into Google. You should find a good fifty or sixty sites that you can start submitting your blog and RSS feed to. With all blogger blog’s your RSS feed url is going to be yourkeywords.blogger.com/atom.xml. This will help attract the attention of search engines and get your blog noticed by others who are searching for content for their site or blog.

All of the above process will result in getting you inbound links to your blog. Most sites will use your blog name as the link text on their site. This helps you get inbound links with your target keywords in them. Having several inbound links to your blog that contain your target keywords is a powerful way to get ranked very well.

You can also trade links with other sites that have a good ranking for related keywords. If the site is not to business related you can simply send them an email asking to trade links. You will get a better response if you compliment their site and tell them what you like about it.

To speed this process along you can also use a site like bloglinker dot com. This type of site will allow you to put a small piece of code in your template that will show a list of sites that you link to and that link back to you. There are other services similar to Blog Linker but they are the easiest to use. Just make sure to remove or decline any sites that want to trade links that promote adult or gambling related material.

Another thing you can do to get some quick and long term traffic is to submit articles. You can do this by making your posts articles. Once posted on your blog take your articles and submit them article directories with your blog’s address in the author BIO. This will land you one way links from every site or blog that posts your article and is quite frankly the easiest way to get a good ranking and some traffic.

The last thing you can try is to advertise your blog on forums. To do this simply put your blog’s URL in your signature on a related forum, then make just informative posts that people will find helpful. This is another quick way to get visitors, the better your signature is the more visitors you will get. Think of your signature as a headline and you should do fine.

You now should have everything you need setup to start making a monthly AdSense check. The more you post and the more blog’s you have the more you should make. Just remember that you blog’s have to have quality to them. You can have a hundred half ass blog’s and they will still not stand up to a good quality one. Keep posting to your blog and you will soon start to see the AdSense money coming in.

Another Guide to RSS Aggregators…

Another Guide to RSS Aggregators

One of the most popular features of Internet portals, websites, pages and even emails is a frame that features an organized list of news headlines and periodic updates from other web sources.  Really Simple Syndication, formerly “Rich Site Summary” or simply, RSS makes this possible.

Most users visit a lot of websites whose content continually change, such as news sites, community organization or professional association information pages, medical websites, product support pages, and blogs.  As Internet surfing became an intrinsic part of business and leisure, it became important to get rid of the very tedious task of repeatedly returning to each website to see updated content.

RSS easily distributes information from different websites to a wider number of Internet users.  RSS aggregators are programs that use RSS to source these updates, and then organize those lists of headlines, content and notices for easy reading.  It allows computers to automatically retrieve and read the content that users want, then track changes and personalize lists of headlines that interests them.

The specially made computer programs called “RSS aggregators” were created to automatically find and retrieve the RSS feeds of pre-selected internet sites on behalf of the user and organize the results accordingly. (RSS feeds and aggregators are also sometimes referred to as “RSS Channels” and “RSS Readers”.)

The RSS aggregator is like a web browser for RSS content.  HTML presents information directly to users, and RSS automatically lets computers communicate with one another.  While users use browsers to surf the web then load and view each page of interest, RSS aggregators keeps track of changes to many websites.  The titles or descriptions are links themselves and can be used to load the web page the user wants.

RSS starts with an original Web site that has content made available by the administrator.  The website creates an RSS document and registers this content with an RSS publisher that will allow other websites to syndicate the documents.  The Web site also produces an RSS feed, or channel, which is available together with all other resources or documents on the particular Web server.  The website will register the feed as an RSS document, with a listed directory of appropriate RSS publishers.

An RSS feed is composed of website content listed from newest to oldest.  Each item usually consists of a simple title describing the item along with a more complete description and a link to a web page with the actual content being described.  In some instances, the short description or title line is the all the updated information that a user wants to read (for example, final games scores in sports, weblogs post, or stock updates).   Therefore, it is not even necessary to have a web page associated with the content or update items listed — sometimes all the needed information that users need would be in the titles and short summaries themselves.

The RSS content is located in a single file on a webpage in a manner not very different from typical web pages.  The difference is that the information is written in the XML computer code for use by an RSS aggregator and not by a web user like a normal HTML page.

There are 2 main parts that are involved in RSS syndication, namely:  the source end and the client end.

The client end of RSS publishing makes up part of the system that gathers and uses the RSS feed.  For example, Mozilla FireFox browser is typically at the client end of the RSS transaction.  A user’s desktop RSS aggregator program also belongs to the client end.

Once the URL of an RSS feed is known, a user can give that address to an RSS aggregator program and have the aggregator monitor the RSS feed for changes.  Numerous RSS aggregators are already preconfigured with a ready list of RSS feed URLs for popular news or information websites that a user can simply choose from.

There are many RSS aggregators that can be used by all Internet users.  Some can be accessed through the Internet, some are already incorporated into email applications, and others run as a standalone program inside the personal computer.

RSS feeds have evolved into many uses.  Some uses gaining popularity are:

·For online store or retail establishments:  Notification of new product arrivals
·For organization or association newsletters:  title listings and notification of new issues, including email newsletters
·Weather Updates and other alerts of changing geographic conditions
·Database management:  Notification of new items added, or new registered members to a club or interest group.

The uses of feeds will continue to grow, because RSS aggregators make access to any information that individual users like more convenient and fun.

Entertainment RSS Delivered Straight Into Your Homes via Online…

Entertainment RSS Delivered Straight Into Your Homes via Online

RSS which stands for really simple syndication is a format that is associated with the XML family of file formatting. It functions by continuously running through the websites to scan for updates. It then sends these updates to all of the people who are subscribed to these websites using a feed. This is used most often in web syndication.

To be able to use an RSS feed, you need to have an aggregator, also known as a feed reader. These aggregators are available widely online, so it won’t be that hard to scour the net to find the one that you’re looking for. There are a variety of aggregators to choose from. Best of all is that you can download them for free.

RSS feeds are often used in blogs, news, and entertainment websites. Anything that relays information to subscribers, and is often updated. These updates are then sent to all of the subscribers of these sites that carry RRS feeds. The updates are summarized, so you’d have an idea what stories they are referring to. If you are interested in the information it’s relaying, you can then click on the text to get the longer version of the text.

The great thing about RSS feeds, is that you can also read them through your cell phones, and they come in PDAs.

Most entertainment websites carry RSS feeds such as BBC, Reuters, Boston Globe, CNN, etc. Music reviews, game news, interviews, movie stories, are also put into RSS feeds. This makes it a lot easier for fans to follow stories about their favorite movie stars, sports heroes, latest gaming news, etc. It is offered to you unadulterated, and free from annoying spam that clutters your emails.

A lot of businesses also use RSS feeds to reach their customers. This allows them to directly relay information, uncorrupted, and instantaneously. As soon as you download an RSS feed, you receive the information right away.

Entertainment RSS is an all in one stop. You don’t have to click from website to website to get the news that you’re after.  Entertainment websites that carry RSS  offer you the news that you need, automatically as soon as they’re updated. This saves you the time and the trouble of having to scour the net for the information that you’re looking for.

It is easy to subscribe to entertainment RSS feed, just click the button that indicates the RSS feed. You usually have to copy the URL into your aggregator, but some RSS feeds automatically download into your reader. You can unsubscribe to an RSS feed anytime.

There are some search engines that allow you to search information contained through RSS feeds. There are also feed directories that categorize RSS feeds by order of interest. This makes it easier for people to locate all of the information contained in RSS on any available topics online.

Local news can also be found via RSS. So now instead of tuning into your TV sets to get the latest headlines, updates, and sporting news, you can subscribe to an RSS feed. This way, you get all of your news at once. This allows you to control the way you receive information, and enables you to receive news at your own free time.

The great thing about this is that readers can read the headlines and summary, and then can choose which stories they want to follow. This gives the reader control over the content of the information they are receiving. This way, they are not bombarded by numerous advertisements and countless useless information that they don’t have any use for.

Individuals who have blogs with syndicated content can submit the syndicated versions of their blogs to RSS feed directories. This way, blog enthusiasts can have access to their RSS feeds.

Feedster is one of the most popular search engines. You can use this search engine to find numerous entertainment articles, stories, reviews, using an RSS feed. The great thing about RSS feeds, is that you’re always updated with the latest news and happenings.

RSS feeds is revolutionizing the way information consumers get their content. Instead of being bombarded with a plethora of useless information, the consumers now can select & reject the material that goes into their consciousness.

Blog RSS…(Really Simple Syndication)…

Tuesday, April 24th, 2007

Blog RSS

Really Simple Syndication (RSS) is a tool useful for saving or retaining updated information on websites that you frequently visit or websites that are your favorite. RSS utilizes an XML code which scans continuously the content or subject matter of a certain website in search for new informations then transmits the information updates by way of feeding the information to subscribers.

RSS feeds are generally being utilized in blogs or news sites, though any website wanting to broadcast and publish information can use them. Once new information is sent, it will contain a headline, a little bit of text, and either a rundown or a brief review of the news or story. A link is needed be clicked upon to read further.

So as to accept RSS feeds, a feed reader is needed, called an aggregator.  Aggregators are widely and freely available online, and all that is needed is a bit of searching, you will be able to locate a certain interface that best interest you. What’s more, RSS feeds can likewise be read and retrieved from cell phones and on PDAs.

Once you encounter upon a website that you want to add or insert to the aggregator, the process can be done in two ways. Almost all sites offering an RSS feed displays an “RSS” or “XML” button in their homepage and with one click, it promptly add that particular feed to one’s aggregator. Some aggregator however, requires the need to copy and then paste the URL of the feed unto the program.

Whatever the method used, you can be certain that the feed will be accessible soon as you have inserted it, likewise, in just seconds, the next update can arrive. In the event that you do not anymore would want to accept or take in updates, you may simply delete or erase the feed from the aggregator.

Through e-mail subscriptions, you can receive newsletters. RSS feeds on the other hand, can be more convenient in keeping up with newsletter updates since they are prompt and available in an instant; you no longer have to wait for a scheduled time or day to obtain a news summary, plus, these news will never be  detained through a spam filter.
RSS feeds are widely used everyday by individuals who understand and appreciate the accessibility of fast reports and news that can be readily read and only read certain updates that appeals to them.

Aggregators

Aggregators are popular use of feeds, having several kinds. Web aggregators or portals as they are sometimes called, create this view which is then made available in a Web page. Also, Aggregators have been incorporated into e-mail patrons, users of desktops, or dedicated and standalone software.

Offering a collection of special features, such as combining more than a few related feeds in just a single view, hiding certain entries or statements that has been already viewed, and classifying entries and feeds, the aggregator is a versatile component.

Why make a feed available?

You will have more viewers, since now, your viewers can conveniently see your site without even going out and looking for that certain site. While at first, it may seem corrupt, it will in fact enhance the visibility of your site; this is so because users can easily keep up or keep tract with your site, to allow them to view in a way that they want to; it’s more probable that guests are aware should something that is in their interest is available or accessible on your site.

For instance, every month your website broadcasts a new feature. Having no feed, your viewers will always have to keep in mind to go to your site in a certain time to see if they discover something new; that is, if they can remember, and if they still have the time. However, if you supply a feed for your viewers, they can just point to their aggregator and it will instantly provide them a link along with a description of happenings or events at your site immediately.

What format to choose?

Syndication is very confusing as it uses a lot of formats that can usually be come across in the web.  However, this can easily be solved as in general, syndicated libraries are used by aggregators which conceptualize a particular format that a feed is in, in order that they can utilize a certain syndication feed.

With this, whatever format to pick is just a matter of personal preference. RSS 1.0 is far reaching, and practical should it be integrated into Semantic Web systems. RSS 2.0 is very easy and simple create by hand. And atom is an IETF Standard, does it brings constancy, stability and a natural and accepted community to support its usage.
